04/05/14: Muawiya Nassar, media student kidnapped by the Israeli Army from Madama

In the early hours of Sunday morning the Israeli Army invaded Madama village, just south of Nablus, and kidnapped 22 year old An-Najah University media student Muawiya Nassar. Before kidnapping Muawiya they destroyed property in his family home, including Muawiya’s camera and media equipment required for his studies.

Muawiya is in the middle of his final exams at An-Najah National University in Nablus where he was studying media. Apartheid Israel regularly targets Palestinian journalists and media in direct violation of international law regarding freedom of the press.

A report of the Freedoms Committee in the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate revealed that the Israeli army violations and aggression against Palestinian journalists increased in 2013. Freedoms committee chairman Mohammed Al-Laham said violations against journalists reached a height of 237 violations.

Palestinian journalists regularly are attacked by the Army, prevented access and even arrested as Apartheid Israel tries to prevent documentation of their crimes. These violations are done with virtual impunity from the international community. SFP asks all believers in justice and freedom around the world to join the Palestinians call to hold Apartheid Israel to account for its crimes and violations of freedoms by abiding by the request for boycott, divestment and sanctions.
