33 days on hunger strike – families of detainees share their pain

As Palestinian detainees complete their 33rd day on hunger strike, Basel Farraj, son of one of the detainees shares with us his families pain:

My father has entered his 26th day on hunger strike with only water in his body, along with other Palestinian prisoners of freedom (most of whom have entered their 33rd day), in protest against the use of administrative detention by the Israeli occupation. This unlawful use of administrative detention allows the Israeli occupation to hold Palestinian prisoners indefinitely based on “secret information”, without charge and without trial.

I am certain that my father’s strong will and determination, his love for life and freedom, his longing for our small garden and its flowers, the memories he has of his family and the memories he wants to share with all of us are guiding him through this righteous fight. Justice will prevail.

This interview with my dad was recorded in 2011. Since then, he has been arrested twice under administrative detention and has participated in two hunger strikes.
