Thanks to continuing kind donations from around the World and from SFP members we have been able to puchase more olive trees and thyme for the Women’s cooperative in Biddiya, Salfit governorate.
This is part of a campaign by SFP to support Palestinian feminist agricultural cooperatives, supporting Palestinian women to be economically independent and acknowledging the leading role Palestinian women play in the resistance and liberation of Palestinian land.
SFP has already supported women’s groups in the Jordan Valley, Salfit and villages around Nablus city. We are determined to support more groups and would be very grateful for any further donations and for you to share our campaign widely.
Palestinian women are at the forefront of the resistance and SFP reaffirms their support for these female leaders as they cultivate the land and reclaim it from the Occupation and Zionist settlers.

قامت حركة تضامن من حل فلسطين حره SFP بتوزيع آلاف الاشتال من الزعتر وأشجار الزيتون على النساء في بلدة بديا –قضاء سلفيت .
حيث توجه النشطاء إلى بلدة بديا – سلفيت. وقاموا بزيارة الى مركز نساء ضد الجدار وتم الاتفاق معهن على تشكيل تعاونيات نسويه ودعمهن بالزعتر والزيتون وقد تم توزيع الاشتال على مجموعة من النساء .اللواتي قمن بزراعتها في الأرض .
يأتي هذا التوجه ضمن خطه تقوم بها حركةSFP مع المؤسسات الفلسطينية لبناء تعاونيات نسويه و دعم النساء الفلسطينيات وتعزيز صمودهن على الأرض في المواقع الريفية وقد تم توزيع العديد من الاشتال في العديد من المناطق في الأغوار ونابلس ورام الله وسلفيت .
النساء الفلسطينيات عبروا عن شكرهن لكل من تبرع وطالبوا بالاستمرار بدعم النساء الفلسطينيات , خاصة أن هناك الكثير من النساء ابدوا استعدادهن للتوجه للأرض من اجل زراعتها .
يذكر ان زراعه الزعتر مشروع مربح ويساهم في تخفيف العبء الاقتصادي على العائلات الفلسطينية ويساهم في حماية الأرض الفلسطينية من المصادرة من قبل الاحتلال الإسرائيلي .

Today Damien Austin, tortured as a child during the Irish struggle for freedom, sends his solidarity to the Hares boys and all Palestinian children. Telling them to “never give up hope” and sending a message to the world to show solidarity.
On Friday 15 and 17 March 5 boys from Hares village in Salfit were arrested by the Israeli Army and tortured into confessing to a crime that never happened. On 15-17 March 2014 the Hares Boys have now spent over one year in an Israeli adult prison despite a total lack of evidence against them or indeed of a crime having been committed.
It is not a cause to celebrate. Five young lives put on hold by an occupation regime that has no respect for human life; hundreds of lives affected by the incarceration of a son, a brother, a cousin, a friend, a football team mate. Millions of hearts bleeding.
If convicted, this case could set an extremely dangerous precedent in the Israeli military court system, whereby any Palestinian child accused of throwing stones could be sentenced to many years in prison (currently the average sentence is 3-6 months).
The case echoes the abuses of Irish boys and young men by British and Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) forces.

The 5 Hares boys are Ali Shamlawi; Mohammed Kleib; Mohammed Suleiman; Ammar Souf; and Tamer Souf
They are accused of attempted murder after a settler car crashed into the back of a lorry on Road 5, Salfit Governorate in the occupied West Bank. The settlers child was seriously injured in the crash.
They are currently facing 25 counts of attempted murder each, allegedly representing each stone which was thrown.
As of 31 January 2014 there were 183 Palestinian children held in Israeli prisons.
Children as young as 12 years can be prosecuted in the military courts.
500-700 children are prosecuted in the military courts each year.
Children are most commonly prosecuted for stone throwing.
The majority of children are detained at night and report physical and psychological abuse during arrest, transfer and interrogation.
Over 99% of cases in the military courts end in conviction.
Over 55% of Palestinian child detainees are held in prisons in Israel in breach of Article 76 of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

اليوم، وبعد تعرضه للتعذيب في طفولته أثناء الصراع الايرلندي لنيل الحرية، يبعث داميان أوستين رسالة تضامن لأطفال قرية حارس وكل الأطفال الفلسطينيين وللعالم أجمع ويقول: “لا تفقدوا الأمل أبداً”.
في يومي 15 و 17 مارس، تعرّض 5 أطفال من قرية حارس في سلفيت للاعتقال والتعذيب على يد أجهزة الأمن الاسرائيلية للاعتراف بجريمة لم تحدث أبداً! في 15-17 مارس 2014 يمضى على اعتقال الأطفال الخمسة أكثر من سنة في سجن إسرائيلي للبالغين بالرغم من عدم وجود أدلة ضدهم أو بالجريمة المرتكبة.
ليس هناك سبب للاحتفال وملايين القلوب تنزف لأجل خمسة أرواح يانعة سلبت حريتها على يد احتلال غاشم لا يحترم الحياة البشرية; حياة المئات من المتضررين في السجن من ابن، أخ، ابن عم أو ابن خال، صديق، و زميل في فريق كرة القدم.
إذا تمت إدانة هؤلاء الأطفال، فهذه القضية سوف تكون سابقة خطيرة للغاية في نظام المحاكم العسكرية الاسرائيلية، حيث سيتعرض أي طفل فلسطيني يتهم برشق الحجارة لعقوبة بالسجن لعدة سنوات (متوسط الحكم حالياً هو 3-6 أشهر).
تعود هذه القضية بنا أدراج الذاكرة إلى الإساءة التي تعرض لها الأطفال والشباب الايرلندي على يد شرطة المستوطنين.
ملاحظات:
– أطفال حارس الخمسة هم: علي الشملاوي، محمد كليب، محمد سليمان، عمار صوف، و تامر صوف.
– يواجه أطفال قرية حارس تهمة تتعلق بالشروع بالقتل على خلفية حادث سير وقع على إحدى الطرق الالتفافية تحطمت فيه سيارة مستوطن في الجزء الخلفي من شاحنة على الطريق 5 في محافظة سلفيت بالضفة الغربية المحتلة، حيث تعرضت خلاله ابنة المستوطن الطفلة لجروح خطيرة.
– يواجه الأطفال حالياً عقوبة الاعتقال مدى الحياة.

– حتى 31 يناير 2014 كان عدد الأطفال الفلسطينيين في السجون الاسرائيلية 183 طفلاً.
– يمكن أن تتم محاكمة أطفال لا تتجاوز أعمارهم 12 عاماً في المحاكم العسكرية.
– في كل عام يتم محاكمة 500-700 طفل في المحاكم العسكرية.
– التهمة الأكثر شيوعاً للأطفال هي إلقاء الحجارة.
– يحتجز أغلبية الأطفال في الليل ويتم الإبلاغ عن تعرضهم للإيذاء الجسدي والنفسي أثناء الاعتقال و النقل والاستجواب.
– أكثر من 99% من الحالات في المحاكم العسكرية تنتهي بالإدانة.
– إن احتجاز أكثر من 55% من الأطفال الفلسطينيين في المعتقلات الاسرائيلية يشكل خرقاً للمادة 76 من اتفاقية جنيف الرابعة.

On Saturday morning activists from SFP and the Tanweer Centre in Nablus planted olive trees in Wadi Qana, Deir Istiya. The area, of particular natural beauty and full of citrus groves, was frequented by illegal settlers as the activists planted the trees. When walking in the groves activists were attacked by three settler youths who attempted to intimidate them into deleting photos. The activists refused. They also witnessed one settler repeatedly ride around on a horse, armed with a hand gun, in a macho attempt at further intimidation.
Two weeks prior the land had been attacked by settlers and the Army who uprooted olive trees. Abu Nasser also showed the activists land where in 2010 where the Army had uprooted several hundred old olive trees and marked others for destruction. The red marks were still visible on the remaining trees.
The land, belonging to the village of Deir Istiya, is deemed inside the boundaries of the illegal settlements of Immanuel, Yaqir, Nofim, Ma’ale Shomron and Qarne Shomron. All built on stolen Deir Istiya land. The richness of the land, evidenced by its abundance of citrus groves and particular beauty means it is a prime target for the settlers. According to OCHA maps the proposed route of the Apartheid Wall will eventually surround the land and cut Deir Istiya farmers, villagers and Palestinians from cultivating and enjoying the area.
SFP is continuing to support farmers and villagers by planting olive trees. Due to the demand and popularity of the campaign we are also going to expand it to plant zatar, a Palestinian herb. Urgent: (15/01/14) Settlers are currently attacking the Abu Bakr mosque in Deir Estiya, Salfit. The Army are prevent access to all, including the press.
We ask all our friends, both Palestinian and international that are in the area or able to get there, to urgently attend and support villagers against such aggression.
