Settlers from the illegal settlement of Eli set fire to 11 old olive trees belonging to the village of Qaryut at dawn on 31 March 2014. The criminal settlers, accompanied by the Israeli Army who provided flares to light up the area, attacked after midnight. As reports came in to Qaryut of the attacks the Fire Service were prevented from attending the scene by the Army.
Last week the Army informed Qaryut they were confiscating thousands of dunums of the villages lands. These are land rich in archaeological significance and therefore Apartheid Israel seeks to steal it to expropriate Palestinian land and history.
In addition, Jalud, neighbouring Qaryut, was informed today that 300 dunums of their land was being stolen by illegal settlers seeking to expand their illegal settlement further, building a school and cemetary for the settlement.
Qaryut, Qusra and Jalud are surrounded by numerous illegal settlements and their outposts, stealing Palestinian land. SFP has been working closely with Qaryut and it’s neighbours, supporting them in their resistance and taking back stolen lands. أضرم مستوطنون إسرائيليون فجر الاثنين النار في أراض زراعية في قرية قريوت جنوب مدينة نابلس وقالاهالي القرية ان عددا من المستوطنين من مستوطنة “عيليه” الإسرائيلية القريبة من قريوت، تسللوا لتلك الأراضي بعد منتصف الليل، وأشعلوا النار في 11 شجرة زيتون رومية معمرة حيث ان المستوطنين كانوا تحت حراسة من جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي الذي أطلق قنابل الإنارة، فوق الأراضي المستهدفة قبل أن يبدأ المستوطنون بإشعار النيران، كما منع الجيش طواقم الدفاع المدني الفلسطيني من الدخول للأراضي وإطفاء الحريق.
و في نفس السياق حيث قامت قوات الاحتلال بالاستيلاء على الالاف الدونمات من قرية قريوت بهدف توسيع المستوطنات وعمل مناطق سياحيه هناك حيث تم الاستيلاء على جيمع المناطق الاثرية في المنطقة
وفي صباح هذا اليوم قامت قوات الاحتلال ايضا بمصادرة 300 دونم من اراضي قرية جالود بهدف انشاء بؤرة استيطانيه جديدة هناك

On the occasion of Land Day, 30 March, SFP Hebron attended a demonstration in front of the Rajabi House in Hebron. The Palestinian house was stolen by settlers. Last week the Zionist Court of Apartheid Israel ruled that the house belonged to the illegal settlers. Activists made it clear they would not accept the Court ruling and would affirm their right to their land and their homes.

On the occasion of Land Day, SFP activists joined the Popular Committee in the village of Izbat at Tabib, Qalqliya district, as they remain steadfast on their land. The village organized a festival, attended Rami Hamdullah, the Prime Minister, to discuss Land Day and the ongoing struggle for Palestinian rights.
Izbat at Tabib has had demolition orders for the majority of the villages homes, including the school and medical clinic. Since then the village has put up brave resistance, refusing to be ethnically cleansed from their land. They established a tent in the centre of the village, a symbol of their resistance and regularly organise actions against the harassment and intimidation if the Army.

بمشاركة جماهيرية واسعة من محافظة قلقيلة في عزبة الطبيب وبحظور رئيس الوزراء الحمد الله نضمت الفعاليات في عزبية الطبيب مهرجان لإحياء يوم الارض الخالدة بعد مسيرة من الشارع الرئيسي وزراعة أشجار الزيتون لتأكيد على ان الارض هي للفلسطينيين فقط ولا تقبل القسمة على احد وقد كانت هناك مشاركة من حركة التضامن من اجل فلسطين حرة لتأكد على مبدأها ان فلسطين هي مشروع تحرر وفي يوم الارض الخالدة سوف ننتمي الى الارض كل يوم ونثبت انه لا تنازل عن الحقوق.
On Saturday afternoon activists from SFP, joined by the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees, reclaimed the land at Huwwara checkpoint. Dressed in traditional farmers clothing activists marched on Huwwara checkpoint and planted olive trees on the land next to the checkpoint.
By taking the Army by surprise activist were able to successfully plant all the trees and then stage a sit-in on the land. Activists also danced Dabke, the traditional Palestinian dance, while chanting their message: “this is our land and we are taking it back”. They then proceeded to dance Dabke around the checkpoint as the Army presence grew. The Army positioned at least 10 soldiers in sniper positions towards the peaceful activists and around 50 soldiers gathered at the checkpoint. Activists were defiant against this harassment and aggression on their land.
The soldiers also briefly detained a Palestinian journalist, asking him who had organised the action. He was released after refusing to answer their questions and succumb to their intimidation.

Huwwara checkpoint was one of the most brutal checkpoints in the West Bank area of Palestine. It cuts the north off from the middle and southern West Bank. Soldiers closed the checkpoint at will and many Palestinians have been shot and died on the land. Land which was formerly rich with olive trees. It is this past beauty activists seek to reclaim from the brutality of Apartheid Israel.

Israeli Army taking up sniping positions behind a grass mound
On Friday noon activists from SFP and the Martyr Bilal Najjar Cultural Centre came together in Burin to assert their rights to all their land, in the run up to Land Day (30 March). Activists went to the Munitir neighbourhood of Burin to plant trees and affirm their right to the land.
They were attacked, with no provocation, by a group of Israeli Army soldiers, throwing stun grenades at the activists as they attempted to plant trees. The Army then began firing tear gas directly at activists. Settlers the joined the Army and began throwing stones at the activists, while standing next to the Army.
Many activists suffered tear gas inhalation, with Abu Morsi, a member of the Burin local Council, later collapsing at home and being taken to Rafidia Hospital in Nablus. As a group of activists were leaving Burin later in the day, spies inside the village, threw a large rock directly at their car, smashing the windscreen. Activists suspect this to be the work of the Palestinian Authority who collaborate with Apartheid Israel to try and stop the popular resistance. However, like earlier in the day activists vowed not to be intimidated and to continue to work for freedom of their land.
Burin is surrounded by the illegal settlements of Bracha and Yitzhar, that have grown exponentially and their inhabitants are responsible for hundreds of attacks against Palestinians. On 30 March each year Palestinians remember Land Day, so called because in 1976 tens of thousands of dunums of land was confiscated by Apartheid Israel from Palestinians in the Gailee area of Palestine. This sparked widespread popular resistance to the Occupation and a general strike which lasted 6 months. Many Palestinians were killed and attacked in the brutal crackdown by Apartheid Israel.
Burin village continues to resistance and attempt to claim back their stolen land. SFP supports the village in its endeavors, as it doesn’t wait for negotiations or for the settlers to swallow up the whole village. Activists are clear they will take back the land from the river to the sea.

يوم الأرض الفلسطيني هو يوم يحييه الفلسطينيون في 30 آذار من كلّ سنة ذكرى يوم الأرض الخالد، والذي تعود أحداثه لآذار 1976 بعد أن قامت السّلطات الإسرائيلية بمصادرة آلاف الدّونمات من الأراضي ذات الملكيّة الخاصّة أو المشاع في نطاق حدود مناطق ذو أغلبيّة سكانيّة فلسطينيّة مطلقة، وخاصّة في الجليل.(عرابة) على اثر هذا المخطّط قرّرت الجماهير العربيّة بالدّاخل الفلسطينيّ بإعلان الإضراب الشّامل، متحدّية ولأوّل مرّة بعد احتلال فلسطين عام 1948 السّلطات الإسرائيليّة، وكان الرّدّ الإسرائيليّ عسكريّ شديد إذ دخلت قوّات معزّزة من الجيش الإسرائيليّ مدعومة بالدّبّابات والمجنزرات إلى القرى الفلسطينيّة(عرابة) وأعادت احتلالها موقعة شهداء وجرحى بين صفوف المدنيّين العزل.

On Wednesday afternoon activists destroyed an Israeli monument, established by illegal settlers, on a road between Nablus and Tulkarem. Activists poured motor oil of the monument, which shows the Israeli flag and is mounted by an Israeli flag, and set fire to the monument.
Activists were clear in their message that they would no longer tolerate symbols of the illegal settler colonization of their land, nor would they forget the murders by the Army last week in Jenin refugee camp. Activists vowed to continue to tear down Apartheid wherever it exists in Palestine, from the river to the sea.

دمر نشطاء نصب تذكاري الإسرائيلية، التي أنشئت من قبل المستوطنين، على الطريق بين نابلس وطولكرم حيث قام النشطاء بسكب زيت المحركات على النصب و اضرمو النار فيه الناشطون ارسلو رسالتهم أنهم لن يتسامحوا مع رموز الاستعمار الاستيطاني العنصري على أراضيهم، كما انه لن ننسى جرائم القتل التي نفذها جيش الاحتلال الأسبوع الماضي في مخيم جنين للاجئين. وتعهد النشطاء بمواصلة هدم الفصل العنصري أينما وجد في فلسطين، من النهر إلى البحر.
On Tuesday Palestinians gathered in Nablus’s Martyrs Square to show their solidarity with sick prisoners and demand the release of the remaining 32 pre-Oslo Accords prisoners.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society estimates there is over a hundred seriously ill Palestinian prisoners, receiving no or very little medical care from Apartheid Israel. Fuad Shobaki, 76 years old, and the oldest Palestinian prisoner, has been diagnosed with cancer of the kidney. Fuad was imprisoned in 2002 by Apartheid Israel.
As previously reported by SFP in cases such as Shadi Jazmawi, imprisoned in December and diagnosed with cancer, prisoners receive relatively no proper medical care, receiving only paracetamol for illness ranging from the minor to terminal. In the last 6 months 3 Palestinian prisoners have died as a result of inadequate medical care while imprisoned.
As well as medical neglect of prisoners, Apartheid Israel is now gesturing that it will refuse to release the remaining 32 Palestinian prisoners held since before the signing of the Oslo Accords in 1993. They were due to be released in the next week. The release of all the pre-Oslo prisoners was part of the framework agreement, pushed by the Americans, to restart so called negotiations between Apartheid Israel and the Palestinian Authority last year. However, the release of these prisoners was stipulated in the Accords in 1993 and was not honoured by the Israelis.
Since these negotiations have begun Apartheid Israel has increased illegal settlement building by over 100% and murdered 61 Palestinians. SFP asks all people of conscience around the world to join the Palestinian struggle for freedom and abide by the Palestinians request for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Apartheid Israel. On Monday the siege on the village of Burin continued, with all access roads to the village blocked by Army checkpoints. As of Sunday night the Army declared the area a “closed military zone” and cars and individuals were being subjected to intrusive searches and long waits at these flying checkpoints.
In defiance and steadfastness against the Occupation, the village Council attempted to continue their work on creating an agricultural road for the village farmers. Like yesterday the soldiers prevented the work of the bulldozer, this time using the excuse of the “closed military zone”.

Today Damien Austin, tortured as a child during the Irish struggle for freedom, sends his solidarity to the Hares boys and all Palestinian children. Telling them to “never give up hope” and sending a message to the world to show solidarity.
On Friday 15 and 17 March 5 boys from Hares village in Salfit were arrested by the Israeli Army and tortured into confessing to a crime that never happened. On 15-17 March 2014 the Hares Boys have now spent over one year in an Israeli adult prison despite a total lack of evidence against them or indeed of a crime having been committed.
It is not a cause to celebrate. Five young lives put on hold by an occupation regime that has no respect for human life; hundreds of lives affected by the incarceration of a son, a brother, a cousin, a friend, a football team mate. Millions of hearts bleeding.
If convicted, this case could set an extremely dangerous precedent in the Israeli military court system, whereby any Palestinian child accused of throwing stones could be sentenced to many years in prison (currently the average sentence is 3-6 months).
The case echoes the abuses of Irish boys and young men by British and Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) forces.

The 5 Hares boys are Ali Shamlawi; Mohammed Kleib; Mohammed Suleiman; Ammar Souf; and Tamer Souf
They are accused of attempted murder after a settler car crashed into the back of a lorry on Road 5, Salfit Governorate in the occupied West Bank. The settlers child was seriously injured in the crash.
They are currently facing 25 counts of attempted murder each, allegedly representing each stone which was thrown.
As of 31 January 2014 there were 183 Palestinian children held in Israeli prisons.
Children as young as 12 years can be prosecuted in the military courts.
500-700 children are prosecuted in the military courts each year.
Children are most commonly prosecuted for stone throwing.
The majority of children are detained at night and report physical and psychological abuse during arrest, transfer and interrogation.
Over 99% of cases in the military courts end in conviction.
Over 55% of Palestinian child detainees are held in prisons in Israel in breach of Article 76 of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

اليوم، وبعد تعرضه للتعذيب في طفولته أثناء الصراع الايرلندي لنيل الحرية، يبعث داميان أوستين رسالة تضامن لأطفال قرية حارس وكل الأطفال الفلسطينيين وللعالم أجمع ويقول: “لا تفقدوا الأمل أبداً”.
في يومي 15 و 17 مارس، تعرّض 5 أطفال من قرية حارس في سلفيت للاعتقال والتعذيب على يد أجهزة الأمن الاسرائيلية للاعتراف بجريمة لم تحدث أبداً! في 15-17 مارس 2014 يمضى على اعتقال الأطفال الخمسة أكثر من سنة في سجن إسرائيلي للبالغين بالرغم من عدم وجود أدلة ضدهم أو بالجريمة المرتكبة.
ليس هناك سبب للاحتفال وملايين القلوب تنزف لأجل خمسة أرواح يانعة سلبت حريتها على يد احتلال غاشم لا يحترم الحياة البشرية; حياة المئات من المتضررين في السجن من ابن، أخ، ابن عم أو ابن خال، صديق، و زميل في فريق كرة القدم.
إذا تمت إدانة هؤلاء الأطفال، فهذه القضية سوف تكون سابقة خطيرة للغاية في نظام المحاكم العسكرية الاسرائيلية، حيث سيتعرض أي طفل فلسطيني يتهم برشق الحجارة لعقوبة بالسجن لعدة سنوات (متوسط الحكم حالياً هو 3-6 أشهر).
تعود هذه القضية بنا أدراج الذاكرة إلى الإساءة التي تعرض لها الأطفال والشباب الايرلندي على يد شرطة المستوطنين.
ملاحظات:
– أطفال حارس الخمسة هم: علي الشملاوي، محمد كليب، محمد سليمان، عمار صوف، و تامر صوف.
– يواجه أطفال قرية حارس تهمة تتعلق بالشروع بالقتل على خلفية حادث سير وقع على إحدى الطرق الالتفافية تحطمت فيه سيارة مستوطن في الجزء الخلفي من شاحنة على الطريق 5 في محافظة سلفيت بالضفة الغربية المحتلة، حيث تعرضت خلاله ابنة المستوطن الطفلة لجروح خطيرة.
– يواجه الأطفال حالياً عقوبة الاعتقال مدى الحياة.

– حتى 31 يناير 2014 كان عدد الأطفال الفلسطينيين في السجون الاسرائيلية 183 طفلاً.
– يمكن أن تتم محاكمة أطفال لا تتجاوز أعمارهم 12 عاماً في المحاكم العسكرية.
– في كل عام يتم محاكمة 500-700 طفل في المحاكم العسكرية.
– التهمة الأكثر شيوعاً للأطفال هي إلقاء الحجارة.
– يحتجز أغلبية الأطفال في الليل ويتم الإبلاغ عن تعرضهم للإيذاء الجسدي والنفسي أثناء الاعتقال و النقل والاستجواب.
– أكثر من 99% من الحالات في المحاكم العسكرية تنتهي بالإدانة.
– إن احتجاز أكثر من 55% من الأطفال الفلسطينيين في المعتقلات الاسرائيلية يشكل خرقاً للمادة 76 من اتفاقية جنيف الرابعة.

On Sunday morning, as Burin Village Council continued work on an agricultural road to assist farmers in accessing their lands, settlers from the illegal settlement of Bracha attacked the workers and attempted to damage the bulldozer. Villagers came to protect the workers and bulldozer and were able to prevent attacks, before the Israeli Army joined the criminal settlers firing volleys of tear gas and stun grenades at villagers.
At the same time criminal settlers from the illegal settlements of Yitzhar and Gilad attacked homes to the south of the village. Brave village youth managed to prevent the attacks. However, as the criminal settlers fled to the illegal settlements they broke several of the villages olive trees.
On a daily basis Burin and it’s neighbour, Madama have been subjected to Army and settler harassment. Ominously the Israeli Army promised ‘dark days’ to come for the villages. The collaboration between these criminal settlers and the Israeli Army is no surprise to villages and been documented numerous times. The Army also daily impose checkpoints and lay siege on the villages.
At the time of writing Burin was declared a “closed military zone” by the Army and checkpoints have been erected between the villages of Burin, Madama and Asira al Qibliya.

قام مجلس قروي بورين باستكمال اعمل شق الطرق الزراعية في القرية التي تهدف الى وقف عملية السرطان الاستيطاني
واليوم و اثاء العمل في منطقة حي المناطير شرق قرية بورين و القريبة من مستوطنة براخا هاج عشرات المستوطنين الجرافات محاولة لوقف شق الطرق حيث دارت مواجهات عنيفة بين ابناء القرية والمستوطنين اصيب على اثرها الشاب منير قادوس 38 عام اثناء قيامه في عمله في توثيق اعتداءات المستوطنين و اصيب 3 مستوطنين اثناء الاشتباكات حيث تدخل الجيش محاولا حماية مستوطنيه وبداء بإطلاق وابل من قنابل الغاز و القنابل الصوتية
ومن جهة اخرى و ثناء الاعتداء على الجرافات التي تشق في الطرق هاجم عشرات المستوطنين من مستوطنة ايتسهار الجهة الجنوبية من القرية وخاصة على منزل ام ايمن صوفان القريبة من المستوطنة حيث تصدى لهم مجموعة من شباب القرية و اثناء عودتهم الي المستوطنة قاموا بتكسير عدد من اشجار الزيتون و في هذه الاثناء تم اغلاق كافة مدخل قرية بورين و اعلن عن القرية منطقة عسكرية مغلقة يمنع الدخول و الخروج منها
و الجدير في الذكر ان قرية بورين تتعرض لاعتداءات شبه يوميه من قبل جيش الاحتلال و مستوطنيه حيث تحيط في قرية بورين مستوطنتين من اسوء المستوطنات في الضفة الغربية مستوطنة ايتسهار و مستوطنة براخا و التي تعودان من اشد المستوطنات تطرفاً
